Dorothy Solanik

Dorothy L. Solanik, age 66, a resident of San Antonio, Texas died early Thursday morning November 22, 2007 at the residence of her Niece in Churubusco, Indiana where she had resided since May of 2007. She had been in failing health since before coming to live with her loving family here. Dorothy was born August 25, 1941 in Bradford, England a daughter of the late Harry and Ada (Thompson) Newell. She was united in marriage in 1967 in Bradford to the late Larry Solanik. They moved from England in 1969 where she worked as a secretary for the Cocos Millwright in Batan Rouge, Louisiana for 10 years before moving to San Antonio. She was a member of ion Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Solanik died in 1998. Survivors include her sister Betty Lumb of Bradford, England and her niece Margaret (Roger) Bayford of Churubusco, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, 2 brothers Arthur and Richinson Newell and a sister Marjory Manley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 27, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, Indiana with Pastor Larry Schmoekel officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M. Burial will take place Thursday November 29, 2007 in the Zion Evangelical Church Cemetery of Helotes, Texas. For those who wish memorial contributions may be directed to the Allen County Hospice and Cancer Services, the Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control Shelter or the Churubusco Library.
