Douglas E. Hire, 53, of Columbia City, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 6:57 p.m. in Columbia City. Born in Columbia City, on August 28, 1964, to Glenn and M. Irene (Shrader) Hire. He spent his formative years in Columbia City, graduating from Columbia City High School in 1983. He was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God in Columbia City. Douglas is survivied by a sister, Debra (Daniel) Shinneman; two brothers, David (Pat) Hire and Daniel (Darla) Hire; a niece, Holly Hire; three nephews, Matthew (Kaylynn) Hire, Jacob Shinnemen and Benjamin (Lauren) Shinneman. He is preceded in death by his parents. Services will take place at Oak Grove Church of God on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon until the start of the service at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Stephen Johnson, officiating.
