Douglas Shearer

Douglas Andrew Shearer, 51, of Churubusco, passed away on June 26, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 21, 1974, in Columbia City to Donald and Sharon (Sheldon) Shearer. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1993. He is renowned for his meticulous craftsmanship in carpentry and his passion for the great outdoors, particularly fishing. He found peace in the simple pleasures of life, often spending quiet nights sitting by a fire in his backyard. His unwavering love and commitment to his family, along with his strong work ethic, will be remembered fondly. He was a member of the Blue River Covenant Brethren Church. Douglas is survived by his parents; his brother, Edison (Melissa) Shearer; his sister, Carla (Troy) Horn; seven nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends and family at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Douglas will be laid to rest at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Blue River Covenant Brethren Church (Building Fund). Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
