Douglas H. Trotter, 65, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 4:05 a. m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion following a lengthy illness. Mr. Trotter was born on December 26, 1946 in St. Louis, Michigan, a son of Harvey and Audrey (Wittum) Trotter.e He spent his formative years in that community and graduated from St. Louis High School in 1965.e As a young man he attended Olivet Nazarene University, and later served with the U. S. Army National Guard. On June 10, 1967 he was married in Huntington to Anita J. Hooten of Churubusco.e The couple lived in Mesa, Arizona for 18 years during their marriage, and spent most of their married lives in Fort Wayne.e Next to his wife and family, music was the love of his life, and he had served in music and youth ministry in both First Church of the Nazarene in Mesa, Ariz., and Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne. His professional career was spent in the insurance industry, and he had last worked at K & K Insurance in Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Grace Point Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne. The surviving relatives include his wife Anita; his children Andrea (Paul) Harris of Homestead, Fla. and Jonathan Trotter of Midland, Mich; a brother Bill (Dee) Trotter of Mecosta, Mich; a sister Doris (Paul) Hightree of Salmon, Idaho; and two granddaughters Linda Harris and Maci Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Allen Trotter; and by a sister Ellie Spano. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a. m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road, Fort Wayne, with Dr. Rex Person, officiating. The family will greet friends at the church following the service. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
