Drew Griffis

Drew Phillip "Kuntry Buck" Griffis, 26, a resident of LaOtto, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his home. Drew was born on December 15, 1990 in Kendallville, graduated from East Noble High School in 2009, and was a lifelong resident of LaOtto. Previously employed at Bosh Group in Albion, he was currently employed for his uncles at Griffis Excavating in LaOtto. He will long be remembered for his artistic flair at drawing and writing music. The surviving relatives include his mother Dawn Yahne of Avilla; his father James (Emily Malcolm) Amburgey of Fort Wayne; his maternal grandparents Donna Griffis of LaOtto and Richard (Ellen) Griffis of Garrett; two brothers Tanner Griffis of LaOtto and Dillon Yahne of Avilla; three sisters Kirstin Yahne of Avilla, Kassidy Sliger of LaOtto, and Elsi Amburgey of Fort Wayne; numerous aunts and uncles; and his faithful dog "Alieah." Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto with Pastor Jeremy G. Russell, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m., or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Swan Cemetery, north of LaOtto. The family requests memorials be directed to the funeral home to assist with final expenses.
