Edith Romine

Edith M. Romine 94, a former resident of Churubusco and widow of Leo E. Romine, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion. She had been a patient there since 2015. Mrs. Romine was born on July 11, 1922 in Green Township, and was the youngest of ten children born to John and Iva Mae (Coats) Clouse. On January 18, 1941 she was married in Sturgis, Michigan to Leo E. Romine. She had lived in Churubusco for most of her adult life until moving to Knapp Lake in Noble County in her later years. She had worked as a driver for the Whitley County Council on Aging for 14 years, and later in life was engaged as a home health care aid. She was a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church. Mr. Romine preceded her in death unexpectedly on July 7, 1979. Among the surviving relatives are her daughters Linda (John) Barrett of Churubusco and Bonita Abshire of Albion; a son-in-law Allen Gordon of Knapp Lake; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Beverly Gordon on June 17, 2008; a son-in-law Stephen J. Abshire on May 21, 2012; two sisters Betty Clouse and Martha Leitch; by seven brothers Donald Clouse, William Clouse, Harry Clouse, Russell Clouse, John Clouse, Jr., James Clouse, and Benny Clouse; and a great grandson, Jared Michael Hyndman. Funeral services will be Wenesday February 15, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Wednesday February 15, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rehoboth Cemetery, south of Albion. The family requests that memorials be directed to Churubusco United Methodist Women, 750 N. Main Street, Churubusco, IN 46723.
