Edna Goodyear

Edna E. Goodyear, 91, a former resident of the Churubusco-area and widow of Leston E. Goodyear, died at 8:50 a. m. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at The Cedars in Leo.e She had resided at the nursing home for the past six years.e Mrs. Goodyear was born on February 22, 1918 in Fulton County, a daughter of Charles E. and Ada (Swartzlander) Wood, and spent her formative years there.e On April 9, 1939 she was married to Leston E. Goodyear in Fulton County, and lived there until moving to Whitley County in 1947, and later to the family farm in Green Township in 1951. Mr. Goodyear preceded her in death on May 18, 1984.e She moved into Churubusco in 1988 and lived there until entering the nursing home. A homemaker, she was a longtime member of the Sugar Grove Church of God, north of Churubusco; and had been active in the former Green Township Home Economics Club for many years. The surviving relatives include her son Roger (Gert) Goodyear of Churubusco; her daughter Phyllis (Bill) Doell of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren Chad (Angie) Goodyear of Churubusco and Leandrea Winchester of Tampa, Fla; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and by two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Timothy Grable, pastor of Sugar Grove Church of God, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Monday from 4 to 8 p. m. Interment will be in the Blue River Cemetery, Thorncreek Township.
