Edward "Eddie" Gilbert

Edward "Eddie" J Gilbert, 65, of Churubusco, passed away on July 13, 2024, at Evergreen Village in Fort Wayne. He was born on December 29, 1958, in Columbia City, to the Late Edward and Freda (Wise) Gilbert. A resident of Churubusco, Eddie lived a life immersed in music and storytelling. As a professional musician, he touched many hearts, and as an independent contractor, he showcased his ability to take charge and excel in his profession. His love for building scale model airplanes reflected his patience and attention to detail, while his knack for telling tall tales illuminated his vibrant and creative spirit. Eddie is survived by his siblings, Fred (Coreen) Gilbert, Thomas (Sue) Gilbert, and Ellen Jefferies; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gilbert; a sister, Sarah Gilbert. A funeral service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling beginning at noon. Eddie will be laid to rest at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco. Memorials may be directed to the 13th Step House, Fort Wayne. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
