Edwin Parker Jr., 90, a former resident of Churubusco and more recently of Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Parker was born on February 22, 1925 in Fort Wayne, a son of Edwin E. and Ila (Guiff) Parker. He spent his formative years in Churubusco, and graduated from Churubusco High School.
After high school he served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was married on September 7, 1946 to Mary Louise Herron.
He was employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne and retired from there in 1979 after 31 years.
Mr. Parker was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 in Churubusco.
The surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Louise Parker; his two sons, Max (Carolyn) Parker of Kendallville and Steve (Nancy) Parker of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Thelma Zolman and Lois Long.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, with Chaplain Karen Kosberg, officiating along with military rites.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday.
A private family burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
