Elmer F. Linnemeier, 86, a resident of rural Fort Wayne and well known Lake Township farmer, passed away at 9:45 p. m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013. Mr. Linnemeier was born in Lake Township in Allen County on January 5, 1927, a son of Carl and Bertha (Stahlhut) Linnemeier, and was a lifelong resident there.e Engaged in farming all of his life, he operated a dairy farm in rural Allen County, retiring in 2009. He was a lifelong member of the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he had severed as a Trustee, on the Board of Elders, and its Board of Education.e He enjoyed playing on the church dartball team, and also enjoyed farming, and most especially loved and cherished his family. On June 14, 1952 he was married near Ossian to Dorothy Springer.e She preceded him in death on February 24, 1991. The surviving relatives include his children Carl E. (Laura) Linnemeier of Fort Wayne, Ralph E. (Christine) Linnemeier of Larwill, and Diane K. (Art) Mehring of Big Bend, Wisc; a brother Henry (Lois) Linnemeier of Churubusco; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters Velma Heckman and Alma Kruse; and by a brother Ralph Linnemeier. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 W. California Rd., with Pastor William Mueller, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 4 to 7 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
