Emanuel "Snick" Geiger

Emanuel "Snick" N. Geiger, 102, of Churubusco, passed away at 5:10 pm on Monday, September 22, 2014 at his home in Churubusco. Mr. Geiger was born on January 16, 1912 in Rome City, a son of Emanuel A. and Matilda (McCoy) Geiger. He spent his formative years in Churubusco. On April 17, 1929 he was married in Churubusco to Mabel Marie Cotton. He was a long time Smith Township Farmer, also drove school bus, and was an antique dealer. Mr. Geiger attended Blue River Church of the Brethren and taught Sunday school at the United Brethren Church. His spouse preceded him in death on August 14, 1996. The surviving relatives include sons, Gene (Polly Bruch) Geiger of Columbia City, Paul Lee (Marlene) Geiger of Churubusco, Junior (Jenny) Geiger of Huntington, and DeLynn (Lori Tilden) Geiger of Warsaw; daughters, Bonnie (Glen) Nicodemus of Churubusco, Darlene (Dale) Delanoy of Columbia City; a daughter - in - law, Nancy Geiger of Churubusco; 25 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren, and 36 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Emanuel A.and Matilda (McCoy) Geiger; a son Melvin Geiger; brothers, Forest, Orlando, Murray, and Tonny Geiger; Sisters, Mable Gordon, Ollie Lohrei, Velma Shivley, and Dorothy Gause; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Blue River Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Craig Alan Myers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
