Etta Lopshire

Etta I. Lopshire, 92, formerly of Churubusco and widow of Warren R. Lopshire, passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. She had been taken there from Northridge Village Assisted Living in Albion where she had resided for the past year. Mrs. Lopshire was born on January 14, 1923 in Wayne Township in Allen County, a daughter of Solomon and Effie A. (Snyder) Johnson. On October 14, 1939 she was married in Allen County to Warren R. Lopshire, and moved to Lafayette Township following her marriage. The couple lived in Marion Township, south of Fort Wayne for 18 years until moving into Churubusco in 1984. Employed in the packaging department at Royal Lace Paper in Fort Wayne, she retired from there in 1982 after 24 years. She was past worthy matron of Roanoke Order of the Eastern Star 62. Mr. Lopshire preceded her in death on May 15, 2008. The surviving relatives include her children Gene M. Lopshire of Avilla, Warren L. "Buck" (Marge) Lopshire of Albion, and Lonnie Lopshire of Salt Lake City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant brother Maurice Johnson; and by her sister Genevieve Baumgartner. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Thursday morning. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
