Evelyn Lomont Snyder

Apr 16, 1938 — Jul 18, 2026

Evelyn Lomont Snyder, 88, formerly of Churubusco, passed peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Fort Wayne.

She was born on April 16, 1938, in Payne, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Collie and Evelyn (Lomont) Lamb, Sr.

Evelyn graduated from Payne High School in 1956, showcasing her early talents and dedication to education. After high school, she pursued her artistic inclinations by attending Beauty School. However, upon marrying her beloved husband, Lynn Snyder, on July 18, 1959, she devoted herself to her true passion: homemaking. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of raising their family. Lynn preceded her in death on September 15, 2019, leaving a legacy of love that Evelyn cherished deeply.

A faithful member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Evelyn found comfort and community within its walls. Her life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of music, painting, gardening, and reading. Yet, above all else, it was her family that she treasured most. Evelyn took great pride in her role as a mother and nurtured her loved ones with boundless affection.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Diane (Bill) Randall; three sons, Doug (Lori) Snyder, Dan (Susan) Snyder and Richard (Brenda) Snyder; two brothers, Tony (Rita) Lamb and Simon (Carol) Lamb; two sisters, Carol Bercot and Mariam Lamb; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Collie "Pete" Lamb, Jr., and Tom Lamb; a sister, Mary Lou Lichty.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Evelyn's honor at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Before the Mass, a public viewing will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM.

On the evening of July 22, 2026, a Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 7:00 PM, with an additional public viewing from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
