Everett W. Osbun, 86, a former resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County, passed away at 11:10 a. m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Bethlehem Woods in Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness. Mr. Osbun was born in Auburn on July 11, 1927, a son of Clyde Jay and Lilly Marie (Rohm) Osbun. He spent his formative years in Kendallville, and as a young man served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. On September 19, 1948 he was married in Green Township to Martha L. Budd, and lived in the Churubusco-area all of his adult life. An employee of General Electric in Fort Wayne for 26 years, he retired as a sheet metal worker there in 1990. He was a member of the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, was a former church trustee, and was a Sunday School teacher there for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Smiling Sams camping club, and enjoyed fishing and camping. Mrs. Osbun preceded him in death on December 6, 2011. The surviving relatives include his two children Terrell W. (Cathy) Osbun of Columbia City and Marla (Phillip) Wall of Fort Wayne; two sisters-in-law Evelyn (Ross) Clouse of Churubusco and Lavon Renkenberger of Kendallville; three grandsons Travis Osbun, Ryan (Nikki) Osbun, and Nicholas Osbun; three step-grandchildren Angela (Josh) Reister, Benjamin (Christi) Whitaker, and Casondra (Harry) Seip; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers Raymond, Donald, Chester, Irvin, Clifford, and Lester Osbun. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013, in the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Paul D. White, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Friday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday morning.
