Frederick A. Berry, 90, of Churubusco, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026. He was a beloved father, skilled craftsman, and devoted member of his community.
He was born on October 6, 1935, in Indianapolis, to the late John "Jack" and Margaret (Blackburn) Berry. Frederick lived a life characterized by hard work, craftsmanship, and a deep love for his family. Frederick began his career as a welder in 1958 at Ottenweller's, where he honed his skills before co-founding Berry's Welding & Fabrication with his son in 1980. His dedication to his craft not only provided for his family but also contributed to his love for fabrication.
A proud veteran of the National Guard, Frederick's service to his country was a testament to his strong values and sense of duty. Beyond his professional achievements, he had a zest for life, enjoying golf, darts, and riding motorcycles. In his earlier years, he found joy in building rail and dune buggies, always eager to embrace the thrill of adventure.
Frederick is survived by his sons, Boyd (Donna) Berry and David (Mardi) Berry; his daughters, Yvonne Berry and Virginia (Steve McCorkle) Brunke; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Berry; a son, Michael Berry; and a brother, Jack Berry.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Boyd's house on July 11, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Frederick's remarkable life, share stories, and remember the man whose spirit touched so many.
From Frederick: "To all the women I loved before, you don't have to worry about me no more!"
