Frederick Grier

Frederick B. Grier, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 in Leo. He was born on October 1, 1934 in Fort Wayne. He was the only son of Estel Lavon and Margaret (Hoffman) Grier. He spent his formative years in Orland and graduated from South Side high school in 1952. After high school, he served in the United States Army. Fred was married on June 2, 1956 in Fort Wayne to Jeanette Gudakunst. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2003. He was the owner of American Automatic Food Services and retired in 1991. Fred is survived by two sons, Jeff (Shari) Grier and Thomas Grier both of New Haven; a son-in-law, Doug Shrock of Fort Wayne; a daughter-in-law, Monica Grier of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded by a sister, Donna Inman; his daughter, Victoria Shrock; a son, Mark Grier; a great grandson Luke James Anderson. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on September 21, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Calling also one hour prior to the service. Services will begin at 11:00 AM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on September 22, 2017. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
