Ferdinand A. "Fred" Meyer, 63, a resident of Arcola, died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 25, 2007, at his home. Mr. Meyer was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on April 28, 1944, a son of Raymond Peter and Elvira (Schultz) Meyer, and spent his early years in Michigan. A veteran of the U. S. Army, he moved to Allen County in 1992, and had been a resident of Arcola since 1998. Since living in Allen County, he had been employed as a highway construction worker, and had worked at S. E. Johnson, E & B Paving, Inc., and Brooks Construction, all in Fort Wayne. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Arcola. His marriage took place in Fort Wayne on September 4, 1993 to Lynette J. (Schneider) Freese. She survivies in Arcola. Other surviving relatives include his three daughters Tammy Meyer of Greensboro, NC, Tonya (George) Barlow of Austin, TX, and Tina Webb of Murrieta, Calif; a step-daughter Michelle (Andy) Cambron of Fort Wayne; a step-son Jamie Freese of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Harold Rayburn; by a brother Myron Meyer; and by three sisters Jeannette, Donna, and an infant sister. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, September 29, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Father Cyril Fernandes, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Friday from 5 to 8 p. m. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.
