Frieda E. Whan, 97, a resident of Huntertown, passed away at 7:45 p. m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the Towne House Retirement Community in Fort Wayne where she had been a patient for the past six weeks. Frieda was born on September 18, 1914 in Huntertown, a daughter of Dainel and Hulda (Stauffer) Steiner.e She spent her formative years there and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1932.e A lifelong resident of Huntertown, she was employed as an office worker and officer for Huntertown Grain & Lumber Company from 1932 to 1974. She was a member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, and the Huntertown Homemaker's Club.e In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and baking. The surviving relatives include her sone Lynn A. Sible of Huntertown; two granddaughters Madaline Jane Bryant of Los Angeles, Calif., and Emily Margaret Hull of Oakland, Calif; and two great-grandsons Nathan Hull and Jasper Hull. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Carl Steiner in 1992. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at the Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Road, with Pastors Greg Hiatt and Sherri Long, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at 2:30 p. m. on Wednesday at the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Huntertown United Methodist Church, P. O.
