Gabrielle "Gabby" Jones

Gabrielle L. "Gabby" Jones, 19, a resident of Churubusco, fell asleep in the arms of her Loving Savior on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had suffered with health issues for an extended period, but had been more seriously ill since September. Gabby was born in Fort Wayne on July 2, 1994, a daughter of Kregg A. and Lanette L. (Stienbarger) Jones, and spent all of her life in Churubusco. She graduated from Churubusco High School with the Class of 2013, where she excelled in softball, volleyball, and basketball. As an honor student, she graduated in the top ten of her class, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne, coached seventh grade volleyball at Churubusco Middle School, and volunteered as a youth soccer referee at the Whitley County YMCA. In her leisure time she enjoyed outdoor activities including spending time at the lake, being at the beach, and camping. She also dearly loved her pets. The surviving relatives include her parents Kregg and Lanette Jones of Churubusco; her sister Danielle (David) Rex of Churubusco; the paternal grandmother Barbara Jones of Fort Wayne; the maternal grandparents Dewayne and Helen Stienbarger of Churubusco; her maternal great-grandfather Merle F. Stienbarger of Churubusco; two uncles Kurt (Jill) Jones of Fort Wayne and Bill (Christine) Stienbarger of Huntertown; an aunt Laurinda (Ken) Spieth of Avilla; and six cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Gerald E. "Pud" Jones; and her maternal great-grandmother Eunice (Jones) Stienbarger; Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Pathway Community Church, 11910 Shearwater Run, Fort Wayne. Pastors Scott Davis, Todd Buckmaster, and Timothy Grable will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Monday from 5 to 8 p. m., Tuesday from 2 to 8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service.
