Gary Lee Parker, 82, of Churubusco, passed away on May 31, 2023, at his home.
He was born on December 17, 1940, in Garrett, to the late Don and Alvah Parker. Gary spent the majority of his life residing in Churubusco. He was a member of the Fellowship of Wesley Chapel Church. As the Bible says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)
Gary was married to his loving wife, Carolyn, for over 61 years, after they tied the knot on February 3, 1962. He spent his career as a farmer and also retired from International Harvester in 1970. Gary was a member of the Oliver Gang Association and was an honorary lifetime member of the Maumee Valley Antique Tractor and the Florida Flywheelers. In his leisure time, Gary enjoyed working with Draft Horses and collecting antique tractors. He also cherished his trips to Florida and Northern Michigan, creating lasting memories with his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carolyn Parker; his three children, Gregory (Karon) Parker, Michelle (Keith Bohle) Cleckner, and Gavin (LeAnn) Parker; a brother Jim (Janette) Parker; a sister, Jane (Larry) Beverly; a sister-in-law, Karen Parker; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Allen Parker.
A funeral service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends and family at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Gary will be laid to rest at Huntertown Cemetery, following the funeral service.
Memorials may be directed to the Churubusco Livestock Judging Team and Fellowship of Wesley Chapel Church.
