George W. Bojrab, 88, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Lake Township, Allen County, on February 22, 1934, to the late Samuel and Libby (Slyby) Bojrab. He grew up on his parent's farm growing many different types of vegetables that were sold at the Barr Street Market. He spent his formative years in Lake Township and graduated from Arcola High School in 1953.
George was married in Fort Wayne to Gloria Miller, on November 21, 1953. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2019, after 65 years of marriage.
George worked for MacAllister's and retired in 1994 from Fortmeyer's in Fort Wayne after 35 years of service.
He loved fishing and relaxing at the summer lake house on Lake George. He also enjoyed Carroll High School sports, Pacers basketball, traveling, playing cards, and being with family and friends.
George is survived by a son, Michael W. (Sherry) Bojrab of OH; a daughter, Jodi (Dennis Elick) Bojrab of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Kiana (Adam) Hartman of Fort Wayne and Micah (Sidney) Bojrab of MI; seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Easton, Camden, Ellington, Logan, Aiden and Anders.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Timothy Bojrab; two sisters, Lucy Surber and Mary Bojrab; a brother, Norman Bojrab, Sr; a sister-in-law, Mary B. Bojrab; a brother-in-law, Rev. Herman Surber; a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Hartman.
The family will receive family and friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A private graveside service will be held at Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
