George Gatwood

George L. Gatwood, 82, a resident of Tool, TX, formerly of Churubusco, passed away on July 15, 2017 in Columbia City. He was born in Churubusco on February 1, 1935 to Otis and Gladys (Stockert) Gatwood. He spent his formative years in Churubusco graduating in 1954. After high school, he served in the United States Navy Reserve. He was then married on February 13, 1955 to Norma Ford. After his first marriage, he was married on April 26, 1979 in Colorado to Leona Jane (Lyda) Ellington. The couple moved to southern Indiana then to Florida before settling in Texas. He is a retired carpenter, cabinet maker and missionary. George is survived by his wife, Jane Gatwood; five children, Kathy (Dennis) Konger of Fort Wayne, Karen (Michael) Peelman of Flower Mound, TX, Karla (Roger) Linvill of Columbia City, Lynne Smith, and Clayton James Ellington both of Baytown, TX; his first wife, Norma Juillerat; 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Vivian Rider and a brother Robert Gatwood. A celebration of life service will begin at 2:00 p.m., at Sugar Grove Church of God, Churubusco on Wednesday. A time of fellowship will follow the service. George was a humble man, who lived his life serving the Lord and he would want you to give to someone in needs, so please honor him that way instead of flowers.
