Gloria A. Maggart

Gloria A. Maggart, 80, of LaOtto, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026.

She was born on September 22, 1946, in Wolf Lake, to the late Frank and Alice (Powell) Kirkpatrick. Raised in Churubusco, Gloria graduated from Churubusco High School.

On April 24, 1965, Gloria married James Maggart, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community. As a devoted homemaker and dairy farmer's wife, Gloria played an important role in running their family farm. She also worked briefly at General Electric twice and later at Magnavox in Garrett and Auburn.

Gloria enjoyed shopping trips with her dear friend Judy and dedicated time to serving as a 4-H leader, encouraging and supporting her children and other young people in the community. In her later years, she and Jim enjoyed trips to Rural King and Walmart, finding happiness in the simple moments they shared.

Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, James Maggart; her son, Michael (Sharon) Maggart; her daughter, Mary (Fred) Woodward; her sisters, Sharon (Mike) Geiger and Mary (Tom) Bangs; her brothers, James (Bonnie) Kirkpatrick and William Kirkpatrick; five grandchildren, Brien, Amanda, James, Brady, and Tim; and five great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Bonnie, Charlee, Allison, and Cyrus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Alice Kirkpatrick; her brothers, Donald Kirkpatrick and Harold Kirkpatrick; and her son, Andrew Maggart.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel.

Visitation will continue on Friday, October 30, 2026, beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

The burial will take place at Eel River Cemetery in Churubusco.

Memorials may be directed to Noble County 4-H or Parkview Hospice.

Gloria will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her contributions to the family farm, and the friendships and community connections she cherished throughout her life. Her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her will deeply miss her.
