Gregory Dahms

Gregory W. Dahms, 65, a resident of rural Churubusco, passed away at 5:43 a. m. on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.e He had been in declining health for some time and had been a patient at the hospital for the past week. Mr. Dahms was born in Fort Wayne on December 12, 1947, a son of Bernard and Agnes (Campbell) Dahms.e He spent his formative years at Loon Lake and in Thorncreek Township, and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1966.e He retired after over 40 years with NIPSCO, and had lived most of his adult life at Tri-Lakes and in Smith Township. The surviving relatives include his children Daniel (Melanie) Dahms and Ryan Jo Dahms, both of Columbia City; two step-children; his father Bernard Dahms of Columbia City; a sister Sandra Weirauch of Columbia City; three brothers Michael (Hi) Dahms of Jacksonville, NC, Nicholas (Pat) Dahms of Waterloo, and Matthew (Tonette) Dahms of Columbia City; a grandson Steven Dahms; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother Terry Dahms. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1 p. m. on Wednesday until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
