Gregory Goetterman

June 16, 1945 — December 1, 2020

Gregory T. Goetterman, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 6:45 p.m., on December 1, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Birmingham, MI, on June 16, 1945, to the late William and Ellen Goetterman. He spent his formative years in Birmingham, graduating from Groves High School in 1963. After high school, he served as a medic in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he attended and graduated from Olivet University in Olivet, MI. Gregory was briefly married to Catherine Polivick, the mother of his children. He was then married to Edith Miller in Fort Wayne, on December 14, 2017. He worked as a general terminal manager for Jones Transfer in Saginaw, MI. In his free time he loved to travel, attend dinner theater and he was a history buff. He was a previous member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church, where he served in the food bank. He was currently attending Grace Point Nazarene Church. Gregory volunteered at the VA Hospital where he served on a couple of committees and served with Chaplin Wayne. He was also a Lay Pastor and officiated numerous weddings at the Wedding Chapel in Fort Wayne. Gregory is survived by his wife, Edith Goetterman; two sons, Gregory (Nachole) Goetterman, Jr. "II" and Patrick (Kristin) Goetterman; three stepchildren, Vicki (Marcus) Freeman, Brian (Kristin) Miller and Lynette (Josh) Fager; a brother, William "Bill" (Paula) Goetterman; two sisters, Judy Marcotte and Theresa (Thomas) McCartey; eight grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Cathy Goetterman. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46835. Burial took place at the National Cemetery in Marion. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Veteran's Nation Memorial Shrine and Museum.
