Harold Coil, 56, of Churubusco, passed away on March 22, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by kindness, simplicity, and a deep love for the outdoors.
He was born in Fort Wayne on July 9, 1969. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1988.
Harold was a man who found his greatest joy in the quiet moments-casting a line at sunrise, sitting in a deer stand as the woods came alive, or simply being surrounded by nature. Hunting and fishing weren't just hobbies to him; they were where he felt most at peace.
He was known by everyone who met him as a genuinely good man. Harold lived simply, never asking for much, but always willing to give whatever he could. Whether it was helping a neighbor, lending a hand without being asked, or just showing up when someone needed support, he was the kind of person you could always count on.
He is survived by his significant other of 30 years, Heidi Geller; his stepson, Evan (Kennedy) Geller; his three sisters, Trina (Bernard) Gonya, Sherri Godschalk, and Michelle Godschalk; his grandchildren, Jackson and Turner; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Kay (Wakeman) Geiger.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Merriam.
A life so simply lived, yet so deeply meaningful, will never be forgotten.
