Harold R. Feighner, 89, a former resident of Thorncreek Township and rural Fort Wayne, passed away at 10:20 a. m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Miller's at Oak Pointe in Columbia City. He had been a patient there since July. Mr. Feighner was born on November 16, 1925 in Roanoke, a son of Russell A. and Mary E. (Shatzer) Feighner, and spent his formative years in both Huntington and Allen Counties. He graduated from Lafayette Central High School in 1943 and served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. On December 14, 1946 he was married in Fort Wayne to Edwina Dawkins, and lived most of his adult life in Thorncreek Township until moving to rural Fort Wayne near Dunfee in 2000. Employed as a wire enameller at Rea Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne, he had worked there for 33 years, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement he worked as a driver for the Indiana Auto Auction in Fort Wayne and also for the Whitley County Council on Aging. Mrs. Feighner preceded him in death on February 25, 2011. The surviving relatives include his children Allan R. Feighner of Eagle Point, Oregon, Ronald Feighner of Las Vegas, Shirley (Dennis) Teders of Colorado Springs, and Susan Stallard of Fort Wayne; a sister Tricia Roberson of Fort Wayne; a brother Ray Feighner of Lafayette; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Guy Feighner; a sister Doris Hall; and by an infant daughter Sherry Feighner. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Jamie Hart of Harvest Bible Chapel, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p. m. on Sunday, or one hour prior to the service Monday morning. Interment with military graveside rites will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
