Harriett Griffis

Harriett J. Griffis, 102 of Eel River Township Allen County passed away Oct 23, 2017 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Garrett. She was born June 20, 1915 in Huntington County to the late William and Leota (Sutton) Evans. She was a sales clerk at Patterson Fletcher Department Store in Fort Wayne for several years. She married R. Wayne Griffis on April 25, 1936 he passed away February 14, 1991. She enjoyed shuffleboard, square dancing and fishing. Graduated from Jefferson Twp. High School. She and her husband operated resort at Houghton Lake MI for 6yrs. Survivors include 1 daughter Carolyn (Alan) Hadley of FW, three sons Larry (Pat) of TN, Calvin (Tammi) of Reedsport, OR and Richard (Ellen) Griffis of Garrett, 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, Preceded in death by one daughter Marolyn Felger in 2013, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
