H. George "Jerry" Cook, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Cook was born on June 11, 1935 in Indianapolis, a son of Henry George and Anna (Hart) Cook. He spent his formative years in Indianapolis, and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1953. After serving in the United States Navy, he graduated from Indiana Tech Fort Wayne in 1963. He later received his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1974. He was employed at Chrysler Corporation in Detroit serving as engineering departmental manager, and retired in 1995 after 30 years. He then work for the city of Fort Wayne as Director of Traffic Engineering for five years. He lived in suburban Detroit for 31 years before moving the Fort Wayne in 1994. On November 26, 1994 he was married in Fort Wayne to Georgia A. Haecker-Halaby. Mr. Cook was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and served as a Stephen Minister, vestry member and stewardship chairperson. He also belonged to the Fort Wayne Engineers Club. The surviving relatives include wife, Georgia A. Cook of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Rebecca McCarthy of Indianapolis; two sons, James A. Cook of Ventura, CA and Steven D. (Jennifer) Cook of Camden, MI; two step-daughters, Shannon (James) Wallace of Indianapolis and Amy (Jack) Hallaert of Fort Wayne; step-son, Andrew J. (Lisa) Long of Naperville, IL; 17 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church 611 West Berry Street,e Fort Wayne, with The Rev. Dr. Thomas Hansen and The Deacon Gordon Samra, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements.
