Hibbard Cassidy

Hibbard J. Cassidy, 83, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Churubuco passed away at 10:21 am on Monday, February 3, 2014 at his residence in Fort Wayne. Mr. Cassidy was born on March 17, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN, a son of Hibbard and Marion (Simonson) Cassidy. He spent his formative years in Minneapolis. On June 9, 1951 he was married in Minneapolis to Donna Geyer, and moved from Minneapolis to Churubusco in 1966. He was employed at SuperValue, and retired in 1992 after more than 25 years. Mr. Cassidy was a member of the Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, Knights of Columbus, and the Naval Reserve. The surviving relatives include his wife, Donna Cassidy of Fort Wayne; two sons, Steven (Kathleen) Cassidy of Fort Wayne and Bruce (Bernie) Cassidy of Bosie, ID; four daughters, Laura (John) Myers of Churubusco, Lynn Cassidy Davis of Minneapolis, MN, LeaAnn (Rick) Manth of LaOtto, and Kathleen (Jeff) Walker of Richmond, KY; 19 Grandchildren and 17 Great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Cassidy; and a granddaughter Breanna Walker. A private funeral services will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, with a rosary service at 8:00 p.m.. Inurnment will be in the Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
