Hilda M. King, 83, of Churubusco, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Grey Stone Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Kosciusko County on April 2, 1942, to the late Carl and Mildred (Hyndman) Wince. Hilda was raised in Whitley County by her grandparents, Dewey and Goldie Wince. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1960.
Hilda was married to Harold A. King on August 1, 1960, in North Webster. The couple built their current home in 1961. Harold preceded her in death on June 15, 2007.
Hilda was a hard worker, dedicating many years as a machine operator, first for eight years at Indiana Die, then for Zollner Piston in Fort Wayne, before her retirement in 2002.
In her leisure time, Hilda was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling. In her youth, she found joy in gardening and canning, and even in her later years, she loved driving around her neighborhood in Churubusco, where she resided with her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Sanford; her five sons, Austin (Laurie) King, Arden (Jill) King, Ivan (Nikki) King, Eric (Jennifer) King and Bradley (Kristin) King; 15 grandchildren, Sean, Drew, Melissa, Michael, Azariah, Alex, Zak, Hanna, Delaney, Emily, Brian, Nathan, Sarah, Faith, and Adam; six great-grandchildren, Ivy, Seth, Kyle, Carver, Reagan, and Victoria.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior.
The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Hilda will be laid to rest at the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
