Hilda M. Spangle, 96, of Phoenix, Az, formerly of Huntertown, passed away peacefully at 12:18 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Spangle was born on May 31, 1919 in Huntertown, a daughter of Henry and Lora (Eby) Byerley. She spent her formative years in Huntertown. She lived in Arizona for the last 6 years. On February 12, 1935 she was married in Fort Wayne to Wilbur A. Spangle. She owned Spangle's Beauty Salon where she was a hairdresser, and retired after 30 years. Mrs. Spangle was a member of Fort Wayne Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her spouse preceded her in death on August 21, 1993. The surviving relatives include a daughter, Shirley Cook of Fort Wayne; a sister, Agnes Scott of Huntertown; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her two children, Faye Louise Spangle and Rex L. Spangle; her three brothers, Gene, Dick, and Bill Byerley; two sisters, Josephine Fosnaugh and Martha E. Folken. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Emerson, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
