Idamae Deem

Idamae L. Deem, 82, a former resident of Churubusco and widow of Harold L. Deem, passed away at 7:20 p. m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Miller's at Oak Pointe in Columbia City following an extended illness. Mrs. Deem was born on June 18, 1932 in Craigville in Wells County, a daughter of Merlin L. and Clara H. (Chandler) Ernst. She spent her formative years in Allen, Michigan and graduated from Quincy High School in 1950. Upon completing her education, she moved to Fort Wayne and was married on December 21, 1957 in Collins to Harold L. Deem. She lived all of her adult life in Churubusco and was employed as a winder at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 40 years. She was a member of Believer's Bible Fellowship in Churubusco and General Electric's Elex Elpar Chapter. Mr. Deem preceded her in death on December 31, 1989. The surviving relatives include her sister Helen (Floyd Abbott) Groesbeck of Jonesville, Mich; a brother-in-law Lowell (Sandy) Deem of Auburn; a niece Beth (Brad) Bowditch of Fort Wayne, and a nephew Darrin Deem of Auburn. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her half-brother Paul Ernst in 1991. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Friday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
