Jack Allman

Jack L Allman 88, of Churubusco, went home to heaven on July 2, 2018. He was born November 7, 1930, in Churubusco, to the late, Marshall E. and Anna I. (Sheets) Allman. He enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in 1948. He served in the 1st Battalion 293rd Infantry, retiring in 1988 as Chief Warrant Officer, Maintenance Officer of OMS 10, Fort Wayne, IN. In 1950, Jack married Joan M. Hemmelgarn and made their home in the Churubusco community. Upon retirement, they moved to Florida to enjoy the warmth and sunshine. There he built custom cars, furniture, and jewelry. In 2017, they returned to Churubusco. He was a member of Heritage Community Church in Auburn. Jack's life was an example of dedication to his family, country, and military service. He is survived by the love of his life, Joan, sharing 68 years of marriage; two daughters Deborah Nelson of Churubusco; Rita (Steve) Ardhuerumly, seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and his "Honey Dog", Buttons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Allman and son, Christopher L. Allman. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Friday, July 6, 2018, at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 pm, at the funeral home with calling one hour prior on Friday. Memorials to Heritage Community Church. Burial will be at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam, IN. Officiating Steven F. Ardhuerumly.
