Jack Clive Wickland, 89, of Huntertown, passed away on July 24, 2023, at Dupont Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born on October 26, 1933, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Donald and Peggie (Hizen) Wickland. As a child, he lived in Toledo and then his family settled in Fort Wayne where his dad found work.
After high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served Honorably.
He spent a lot of time at his grandparent's lake cabin on Chippewa Lake in Michigan, where he learned to water ski.
The Haifly Family was the first to contact the Wickland Family with the truth. Later, they studied with Wilbur Tibbets. Jack was baptized by Jim Scruggs.
Jack was a devoted Jehovah's Witness and was very zealous to preach about the Bible's hope for the future. Jack loved boating, music, technology, nature, and animals. He developed a love for photography after his uncle gave him his first camera when he entered the Army. Shopping for deals was his favorite pastime. He was a regular at various restaurants and the staff enjoyed him. Jack was a very positive and happy person.
Jack leaves behind his adopted family son, Trevor (Melissa) Bird; daughter, LaToya (Paul) Granger-Evans; granddaughter, Rhiannon; he also leaves behind dear friends, Ora Titus, Mike Covey, and Gary Covey; his beloved dog, Bo.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 19, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall, 6427 Blackstone Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46818. A time of gathering will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Burial at Highland Park will take place prior to the service.
