James Bishop

James S. Bishop, 75, of Columbia City, passed away on September 11, 2018, at The Hearth at Sycamore Village. Born in Saratoga Springs, NY, on August 15, 1943, to the late Lawrence and Frances (Patty) Bishop. He moved to Fort Wayne as a child, graduating from South Side High School in 1961. He owned and operated Busco One Stop for 16 years. He also owned and operated Bishop's Auto Palace. James married Anita (Megies) Bishop in Cromwell on March 1, 1985. He loved working on his classic cars and his friends' cars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 98 in Columbia City. He was also a member of the Street Rod Association and traveled all over the county attending Car Shows. James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita Bishop of Columbia City; two daughters, Jill (Brian) Lee of Wolf Lake and Susan (Jerry) Girardot of Columbia City; two sons, Rainer (Lisa) Kimmell of Fort Wayne and Andy (Iva) Kimmell of Waldorf, MD; three brother, David (Donna) Bishop of St. Mary's, Oh., Daniel Bishop of Roanoke and Joseph (Sandy) Bishop of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded by a granddaughter, Briana Lee. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial with Military Rites will take place at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.. In Lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
