James Egolf

April 15, 1930 — February 25, 2015

James D. Egolf, 84, of Kimmell, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 4:10 p.m. at Presence Sacred Heart, Avillia where he had resided since November of 2014. Jim was born on April 15, 1930 in Allen County, Indiana and was the son of Milo and Lois (Deem) Egolf. He spent his formative years in Smith Township and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1948. He worked as salesperson for the former Bob Amber Chevrolet in Churubusco for 25 years. He owned and operated the Little County Store in Merriam, later moving it to Wolf Lake. He retired from the store in July of 2014. From the early 1950's to the mid 1980's Jim coached some of the premier men's fast pitch softball and independent basketball teams in the Northeast Indiana. He was an Avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed country music. He promoted country music though his company, Backstage Promotions and was editor of his county music newspaper, Backstage County Style. The surviving relatives include a son Monte L. (Nancy) Egolf of Albion; a daughter Brenda Harper of Cromwell; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Per Jim's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. A burial of ashes will take place with a private ceremony at a later date.
