James L. Guiff, 101, a resident of rural Churubusco and widely acquainted Eel River Township farmer, passed away at 4:22 a. m.. on Friday, January 11, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Mr. Guiff was born on September 23, 1911 in Eel River Township, a son of John and Elizabeth (Fulk) Guiff.e He spent his formative years in Churubusco, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1928. In August of 1930 he was married to Rosabel F. Peohlin. She preceded him in death on March 14, 1973. A lifelong resident of Eel River Township, he lived his dream of farming all of his life. On August 20, 1977 he married Irene (Hyndman) O' Connell. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2007. The surviving relatives include a son, Gerald L. (Marsha) Guiff of Churubusco; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two daughters Audrey Valjack and Gladys Wakeman; and infants Harry Guiff and Linda Guiff. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with his grandson and caregiver Chad Brenneke presiding. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday after 10 a. m. until the time of the service.e Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
