James W. Heckman, 83, of Albion, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Presence Sacred Heart Home.
Born in Wells County, on December 31, 1937, to the late Dale and Clara (Bell) Heckman. He spent his formative years in Wells County, graduating from Lancaster High School in 1957.
James was married to Margaret "Marge" Shroyer, in Bluffton on April 21, 1980. She preceded him on April 23, 2009.
He retired from Corning in 1989, after 37 years. He also worked at Bosch for a period of time.
He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church and was active with his wife at the Bear Lake Camp.
James is survived by stepson, Mike (Sonya) Keller; three sons, Mike (Lynnette) Heckman, Steve Heckman and David Heckman; a daughter, Amanda (David) Smith; stepson, Dave (Pam) Keller; stepdaughters, Darla (Neal) Ternet and Margie Bridgegam; sister, Debbie Heckman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by four sisters, Mae Nave, Nora Heckman, Sharon Heckman and Carolyn Heckman; a brother Bob Heckman.
Services will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
Family will also receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Burial taking place at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
