James Richard Herendeen, 86, a resident of rural Fort Wayne, passed away on January 8, 2017 at Parkview Hospital.
Born on June 24, 1930, a son of James Earl and Alberta (Foster) Herendeen. He spent his formative years in Green Center.
On August 27, 1950, he was married in Albion to Dortha Rimmel.
Jim retired from Dana Corp, Fort Wayne in 1985 after 30 years.
He attended Good News Baptist Church, Churubusco. He loved to fish, camp, and be outside.
James is survived by his wife Dortha Herendeen; two sons, Richard (Cathy) Herendeen and Clay (Gerry) Herendeen; four sisters, Mildred Black, Beverly (Don) Felger, Shirly (Curt) Link, and Reta (John) Radke; three granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Kill, Heather (Brian) Patten, Rachealle Ray; a step granddaughter; a step grandson; five greatgrandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.
He is preceded in death by parents James Herenden and Alberta Marshall; and a brother Frank Herendeen.
The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, January 12, 2017, with Pastor Tim Grable, officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Noble County.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Good News Baptist Church, Churubusco.
