James Murphy

James J. Murphy, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 11:59 p.m. on July 4, 2017 at Parkview Hospital. He was born in Fort Wayne on September 8, 1942. He spent his formative years in Allen County and graduated from Arcola High School in 1960. After high school James served his country in the United States Air Force. He was married on December 22, 1964 to Janice Portwood. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and hockey. He liked watching NASCAR and going to Tractor Pulls. James is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Murphy of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Michelle (Peter) Kramp of Stevensville, MI, and Julie (Jason Sawyer) Murphy of Waukesha, WI; a brother, Gary Ford of Churubusco; four grandchildren, Lucas Sawyer, Joseph Kramp, Isaiah Kramp, and Lillian Kramp. He is preceded in death by his parents. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on July 22, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Services will begin at 4:00 PM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on July 22, 2017.
