Janet L. Brumbaugh, 89, of Albion, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, at Paddock Springs in Warsaw.
She was born in Cromwell on November 17, 1934, to the late Elbert and Marjorie (Calbeck) Roe. She spent her formative years in Ligonier and graduated from Ligonier High School.
Janet married Loren "Jake" Brumbaugh in Tocoma, WA, on August 23, 1957. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2008. After Jake's time in the military, the couple settled in Albion where they engaged in farming and raising their five sons.
Janet was known for her commitment to her family and community. She was a devoted and loving mother, sister, and friend with a kind heart. Janet's love for her family was evident in her dedication to helping her grandchildren with their 4-H sewing, baking, and canning projects, as well as following their sports and watching them grow up.
Janet was a Charter Member of the Happy Homemakers, a testament to her love for home and family life. She enjoyed spending her time sewing, baking, and canning, hobbies that not only brought her joy but also allowed her to share her talents with those she loved. She was an active member of the Church Woman's Fellowship, where she extended her nurturing spirit to her church community.
Janet is survived by her sons, Marty (Pam) Brumbaugh, Mike (Carla) Brumbaugh, Brent (Barb) Brumbaugh, David (Britte Stein) Brumbaugh, Jeff (Julie) Brumbaugh, and her sister Jayne (Larry) Barron; 12 grandchildren, Kayla, Beau, Tim, Courtney, Katie, Ashley, Haley, Ross, Remingtin, Redmin, Samantha, and Audrey; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Roe; two grandchildren, Ryliegh Brumbaugh and Teegan Brumbaugh.
A funeral service will be held at Columbia City Church of the Brethren, 112 North Washington Street, Columbia City, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
