Janice Rapp

October 18, 1926 — March 29, 2009

Janice F. Rapp, 82, a resident of Churubusco and wife of Dick A. Rapp, died at 5:46 p. m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009, in the emergency room at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after suffering an apparent stroke at the family residence.e e Although she had been in declining health for the past nine days, her death was unexpected. Mrs. Rapp was born in Green Township in Noble County on October 18, 1926, a daughter of John P. and Alta F. (Windle) Trumbull, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944.e On December 22, 1945 she was married in Ligonier to Dick A. Rapp.e The couple lived all of their married lives in the Churubusco-area, and had resided at their present home since 1971. A former employee of Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for ten years, she had worked in child care for the past 20 years at Good News Baptist Church for a period, and more recently at the Churubusco Child Care Center. She and her husband donated the land for the Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco, where she was a charter member.e In addition to her child care and church activities, she enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, playing the piano by ear, and was known for her homemade noodles.e Most importantly, she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. The surviving relatives include her husband Dick A. Rapp, to whom she was married for over 63 years; her children Cheryl (Steve) Fleetwood, Dick A. (Ruth) Rapp, Jr., and Gary L. (Edna) Rapp, all of Churubusco, Daryl (Karen) Rapp of Katy, Texas, and Aaron (Kim) Rapp of Avilla; her sister June R. Hults of Churubusco; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Dwight D. Trumbull on June 30, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco with Pastors Edward A. Thompson and Rick Van Horn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Thursday. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco. The family requests that memorials be directed to Good News Baptist Church, 812 W.
