Jay Krueckeberg

Jay S. Krueckeberg, 49, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, passed away at 4:30 a. m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.e He had been taken there Saturday morning after collapsing unexpectedly. Mr. Krueckeberg was born in Fort Wayne on October 16, 1962, a son of William and Joan (Lucas) Krueckeberg, and spent his formative years there.e He graduated for North Side High School in 1981, and earned a degree in electronics engineering from Purdue University in 2003.e He was married in Fort Wayne on May 14, 1994 to Lori Kimmel.e The couple lived in Columbia City for a period, and had lived at their present home in Eel River Township since 2002. He served with the U. S. Army Reserves, and since 1993 had been employed as an electronics technician at Richard J. Bagan, Inc. in Columbia City. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Churubusco, and the Roller Dome Speed Skating Team in Fort Wayne.e In addition, he had a natural ability to install or repair most anything, and enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities. The surviving relatives include his wife Lori; a son Riley Krueckeberg, a freshman at Carroll High School; his mother and step-father Joan and Donald Krueckeberg of Fort Wayne; a sister Anne (Lenny) Duff of Fort Wayne; a grandmother Helen Lair of Fort Wayne; his mother-in-law Bonnie Kimmel of Churubusco; seven nieces, four nephews, one great-niece; and his beloved dogs Ellie Mae and Kole. He was preceded in death by his father William Krueckeberg; and by his father-in-law William L. Kimmel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Lane Burgland, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Thursday morning. Interment with military honors will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
