Jean E. Krom, 77, a former resident of Tri-Lakes and widow of Lewis E. Krom, passed away at 8:51 p. m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.e She had been taken to the hospital from the Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, where she had been a patient for the past five years. Mrs. Krom was born on January 9, 1934 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Fred and Frances (Nix) Alles, and spent her formative years there.e As an adult, she had lived in Florida for ten years, before returning to this area in 1978. On November 20, 1980 she was married to Lewis E. Krom.e The couple spent their married lives at Round Lake, and she assisted her husband in the operation of Sweet Pea Septic Service for many years. Mr. Krom preceded her in death on August 28, 1997. She was a member of the Good News Baptist Church in Churubusco. The surviving relatives include her twin brother Eugene "Pete" (Charlotte) Alles and another brother John Alles, both of Fort Wayne. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son Scotty Reed; and by a brother Carl Alles. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m.e on Wednesday, Septembere 14, 2011, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Edward A. Thompson, pastor of Good News Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 5 to 7 p. m. on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
