Jean Thompson

Jean L. Thompson, 79, a resident of rural LaOtto and widow of Jack W. Thompson, passed away at 6:20 p. m. on Saturday, January 18, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Thompson was born in Fort Wayne on October 19, 1934, a daughter of Bernard and Dorothy (Stove) Gausepohl. She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952. Upon completing her education she was married in Fort Wayne on August 2, 1952 to Jack W. Thompson. The couple lived there for a period, but spent most of their adult lives in Swan Township in Noble County. Along with her husband, she had been the co-owner of Thompson Shooting Supply in Fort Wayne. She had also worked at Central Soya and at Wayne Candy. In addition, she had also owned J&T Auto Sales in LaOtto for a period. She had also worked as a cleaner and along with a friend operated Those Two Ladies Cleaning. A member of the Red Hat Society, she will long be remembered as a creative soul who had a flare for decorating. Christmas was her favorite season of the year. Mr. Thompson preceded her in death on May 17, 1993. The surviving relatives include her three sons Steve (Donna) Thompson and Mike (Mel) Thompson, both of Angola, and Jay Thompson of LaOtto; her twin sister Joan Feichter of Rockford, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2013 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Churubusco with Father Gary Sigler, the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p. m. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
