Jeanette Dawson

Jeanette H. Dawson, 83, a resident of rural Huntertown and widow of Max Dawson, passed away at 1:20 p. m. on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.e She had been in failing health for some time, and had been seriously ill since October. Mrs. Dawson was born on November 1, 1928 in Woodburn, a daughter of Herman and Emma (Riebersal) Woebbeking.e She spent her formative years in that community, and graduated from Woodburn High School. On December 27, 1947 she was married to Max Dawson.e The couple spent their adult lives in the Huntertown-area, where she had been active with her children in the Allen County 4-H program.e She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and lived life to its fullest. An employee of Dana Corporation in Churubusco for over 31 years, she retired as an inspector there in 1994. Mr. Dawson preceded her in death in 1982. The surviving relatives include her children Connie (Tim) Carey of Kendallville, Dan (Barbara) Dawson of Huntertown, Gail (Bill) Papaik of Nashville, Tenn., and Dennis Dawson of Huntertown; two brothers Roland "Sam" Woebbeking and Max (Ruth) Woebbeking, both of Woodburn; her sister Virginia (Richard) Preston of Van Wert, Oh; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by two brothers Roger Woebbeking and Stanley Woebbeking. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. on Monday, December 19, 2011, in the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 14318 Lima Rd., Huntertown, with Pastor Forest Van Gundy, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Sunday from 1 to 5 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Huntertown Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Resurrection Lutheran Church or to Animal Care & Control, Fort Wayne. *******************************************
