Jeanne A. Short, 68, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 3:58 p. m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.e She had been in failing health since December. Ms. Short was born on April 20, 1942 in Connersville, a daughter of Kenneth R. and Catherine (Lunsford) Klein.e She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Wayne in 1960, and was a 1963 graduate of the former Parkview Hospital School of Nursing.e In addition, she was also a graduate of St. Francis College. Her career as a registered nurse spanned most of her adult life, first working at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for 26 years.e She later moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1988 where she worked at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in the pediatric intensive care unit before returning to Fort Wayne in 2004. She was a member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church. The surviving relatives include her children Todd (Pam) Short of Phoenix, Az., and Lisa (Tony) Lucio of Fort Wayne; her step-mother Rosalyn Klein of Carmel; four brothers Bill (Mary) Klein of Lakeland, Fla., Donald (Deborah) Klein of Carmel, Kevin (Debra) Klein of Fort Wayne, and Craig (Susan) Klein of Oxnard, Calif; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her step-father Roy Beard; and by a daughter Amy C. Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Greg Hiatt, pastor of Huntertown United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8 p. m. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
