Jerome Frye

Jerome Eugene Frye (Jef), or Darby as he was known to most, born October 9, 1949 age 68, unexpectedly departed this world on December 6th, 2017. He was a graduate of Albion Jefferson High School, The GE Tool & Die Apprenticeship, and Purdue. He worked many places over the years as a CAD engineer / designer including Dana, Magnavox, Cooper, etc. He was a member of the Defiance and Fort Wayne racing pigeon clubs. He enjoyed raising and racing his homing pigeons, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. And will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, creative ingenuity, his patience, his giving nature, and his incredible wisdom; so easy to talk to and a great listener. I think everyone who met him learned something from him. Remembered by his generous kind spirit and genuine heart with the ability to always laugh and never let anything matter more than caring and loving others. Always regarded others with an unadulterated kindness, openness and patience. His profound impact on humanity touched so many lives and left a part in all that knew him that leaves this world a better place. He loved his pigeons, being on the boat, exploring adventures with loved ones, joyous laughter, soaking his feet in the sand and a good glass of wine. He will be missed every day by his Father, Jerome P. Frye; his children, Jeff (Antoinette Robinson) Frye and Jeridan (Asher Schechter) Frye; their mother, Marcia Frye; a brother Kenneth Frye; a sister, Carole Frye; two granddaughters, Arianna and Aliyah Frye, Logan & Mariah Paris, & Aniyah Thomas; a niece and nephew to whom he was like a father to Holly Carter Eimiller and Ty Frye, as well as many, many friends. He was proceeded in death by his brothers Larry Rea Frye and Michael Alan Frye, and his Mother Opal Gene Rea. Calling will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Services will begin at 6:00 PM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
