Jerry Campbell

Jerry L. Campbell, 71, a former resident of the Churubusco-area and more recently of Columbia City, passed away at 7:10 a. m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. He had been in failing health for some time and had entered the hospital last Thursday. Mr. Campbell was born in Rome City on January 8, 1942, a son of Joseph G. and Marie L. (Herendeen) Campbell. His marriage took place on July 3, 1959 to Karen G. Whittaker, and he spent most of his adult life in Noble County before moving to his present home in Columbia City in 2012. Employed at Dana Corporation in Churubusco for 42 years, he retired from there as a maintenance employee in 2003. The surviving relatives include his wife Karen, to whom he was married for over 54 years; four children Dennis J. (Barbara) Campbell of Albion, Timothy Lee (Sandi) Campbell of Corunna, Sheryl Ann Campbell of Columbia City, and Joseph C. Campbell of Camby; two sisters Jane Gray of Churubusco and Jeannette (John) Winebrenner of Fort Wayne; a son-in-law William "Skip" Paul of Grabill; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Corrine Rene Paul on November 4, 2013; and by a daughter-in-law Janet G. Campbell on August 17, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Chaplain Kurt M. Snyder, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Saturday morning. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
